The new issue of Empire magazine has an Indy theme...and some interesting talk of Indy 4. Among other things, it is scheduled to begin filming in mid-2007, with an expected release of 2008.
Apparently, everyone realizes that there is no way the film can now live up to its expectations (ala Phantom Menace). As a result, they are going for broke with an idea that was originally deemed "too incendiary".
According to George:
"We’ll have to go back to that original MacGuffin and take out the offending parts of it and we’ll still use that area of the supernatural do deal with it”.
Very cryptic stuff. Any ideas on what this "area of the supernatural" is? My first instinct was that it may involve the afterlife or death. After all, that was a pretty big part of the original Monkey King's finale. And when I first read that script, I thought, "This would've been too out there for Indy 3."
