: Chapter 55 [Phone Home] (written by Brett (Maverick) Lambert & Goodsport)

: The Fiddler looked up at the top of the rise. A little further, and he would reach his destination.
: "God, I hate that building!" he groaned through clenched teeth as he climbed the curve of the ridge, squinting in the cold, clear Swiss air at LambertFilm studio lot. The Fiddler cautiously snuck up to the studio's barbed-wire fence and tore open enough of it with his bare hands to climb into the compound.
: The Fiddler looked back and forth, eyeing the surveillance cameras posted along the fence. Unlike his first visit, the cameras were not following his movements. "So, those damn brothers aren't paying attention to me at the moment!" he told himself, not aware that the Lambert brothers weren't currently even on the same dimensional plane as he was.
: He quickly made his way to one of the many storehouses scattered along the studio lot. He broke open the lock, heaved open the heavy door and stepped into the dimly lit storage facility.
: He took a few steps forward before noticing two director's chairs near a table. A closer inspection of the chairs revealed that one had the name 'Indiana James' written on the seat back, while the other had 'Brett (Yasim) Lambert' written on it. The word 'Yasim' appeared to have been crossed out with a black felt-tip marker, with the word 'Maverick' written above it.
: The Fiddler glanced at the table near the chairs and noticed half-finished food. Near James' chair on the table lay an open container of Jell-O Pudding and a half-empty (or half-full, depending on your point of view) glass of Kool-Aid. Near Brett's chair on the table was a half-empty (or again, half-full) can of dog food with a spoon sticking in the can, as well as an old promotional poster of Mel Gibson in Mad Max. The Fiddler lifted the can and, seeing the 'No Pets Allowed' sign posted on the door, dropped the can in disgust as he suddenly remembered that pets don't use spoons.
: The sudden noise from the crates behind him sent the Fiddler swiveling around, drawing his sawed-off shotgun.
: An animatronic of E.T. slid out from behind the crates in the middle of the storehouse. "EÖ. TÖ PhoneÖ Home!" the little robot announced.
: The Fiddler fired his shotgun into the crates several times, hoping to hit whoever was remotely controlling the mechanical E.T.
: The animatronic continued, "EÖ T... PhoneÖ PizzaÖ Hut!"
: The Fiddler pointed his weapon straight at the E.T. in front of him. "I hate Pizza Hut, and I hated your movie even more!" The burst from his shotgun left E.T. headless.
: "I wouldn't do that if I were you!" the malicious voice announced from the body of the animatronic. The Fiddler stepped back in fear.
: E.T.'s body burst into flame. The flame enlarged itself, yet didn't burn anything it touched.
: The Fiddler looked up at the massive flame. "What theÖ"
: A demonic form could barely be made out through the flame. It pointed toward the Fiddler.
: "Greetings, Fiddler," he announced, "your Lambert targets are not here!"
: The Fiddler was aghast. "UhhÖ. where are they?"
: "They are in Valinor," the flame responded, "as are most of those who seek to assist that accursed Gandalf. I need your help there!"
: "Whatever you say," the Fiddler gulped, seeing that he was way in over his head, "can I get my hands on the Lambert dweebs there?"
: "Oh, my good Fiddler," came his answer, "you can do so much more than that once we reach Valinor. But do not touch the Lamberts at firstÖ I have a few mind games to play on Gandalf's little wretches!"
: The flame enlarged to engulf the Fiddler. The Fiddler shrieked at first, until he realized that he was not being burned.
: "What shall I call you?" the Fiddler asked.
: "For now," the demon answered, "you may call me Sauron!"
: The surrounding flames flashed brightly until neither Sauron nor the Fiddler were in the storehouse.

: "What in the name of Bob and Doug MacKenzie is that?" asked Brett Lambert of the dragon flying right at him and his brother, with the rest of the group not far behind. They were on top of a hill in the grassy plain.
: "Don't know, bro'!" answered Indiana James, "But I think it's time to go!"
: "Hey, that was a pretty good rhyme," Brett responded, "you should use it all the time!"
: Indiana James grinned to his brother. "That wasn't too bad yourself, Maverick!"
: "GET OUT OF THE WAY!" Micah screamed, catching up to the brothers. He body-slammed Brett into James as the three of them rolled down the left side of the hill in time to avoid Smaug's breath of fire scorch the hilltop. The rest of the group jumped onto either side of the hill to avoid Smaug's fiery blast. Michaelson, Indiana Jerico, Indy, IndyAntilles, Quint Glimsby, Ben (friend of Indy) Tom Bombadil and Tessa rolled down the left side of the hill after Micah and the Lambert brothers. To the right side of the hill rolled Goodsport, Short Round, Meg, and Aragorn, with Lauren Jones, Micki and Indiana Jones following them a few seconds later.
: The rivers of substanceless darkness that had pursued the group turned toward the right side of the hill to continue their pursuit of Goodsport and his companions. The dragon Smaug then turned left to follow Micah and his posse.
: "RUN!" Micah screamed, as those who rolled down the left side of the hill followed him.

: Falling to the ground, both Deirdre and The Man with the Hat breathed heavily, with the army of Orcs behind them in pursuit.
: "How much further?" Deirdre asked between breaths.
: The Man with the Hat turned to her, clutching Aragorn's Sword in his right hand. "To what?"
: "To safety!" she shot a dirty glance at him.
: "How should I know?!?" retorted The Man with the Hat, shaking his head.
: They suddenly saw figures up on the horizon. Soon they became more visible.
: Deirdre noticed both Lambert brothers running toward them beside the leader of the Phoenix Group. A motley band of agents and adventurers were right behind them. They then noticed a huge dragon chasing closely behind them.
: "Oh great!" both Deirdre and The Man with the Hat blurted at the same time as they noticed themselves between the dragon ahead of them and the army of Orcs behind them.

: Chapter 56 [Nightmares] (written by Short Round)

: Goodsport, Short Round, Meg, and Aragorn ran as fast as they could! The darkness came like visible air about to surround the whole place. The floor dropped from below their feet. They plummeted farther below...
: They all woke up in a dark and clammy cave. They were pouting, all soaking wet from sweat. They all exchanged glances.
: "Where are we?" Aragorn asked.
: "I wish I knew." Goodsport replied.
: Silence.
: "Did you feel that?" Aragorn exclaimed.
: "Feel what?" Goodsport said.
: For Aragorn, the scene suddenly changed.
: Aragorn ran across the plainsÖ the Orcs had been chasing him. He felt like he had been running forever. Smaug had then arrived, covering the air like a flying blanket.
: "What's happening?" He said to himself. "I thought Valinor was a nice place!"
: Aragorn tripped on both his hands and knees. As he tried to get up, he started to fall with every step. He suddenly got weaker and weaker. As he tried to get up his muscles went stiff, then limpÖ and he fell to the ground yet again! The Orcs got closer. His muscles felt like they were deteriorating! He couldn't feel his legs anymore. The Orcs were close enough to touch! They ran over him...

: - - -

: "NOOO!" Aragorn yelled, wailing his arms around and kicking furiously.
: "Aragorn. Stop itÖ stop it!" Goodsport jerked Aragorn around.
: "Dude, you're totally beginning to freak me out!" Short Round exclaimed.
: "Smaug, Orcs, they were-were!" Aragorn started to stutter.
: Everyone stared at Aragorn in shock.
: "It was like, one second I was in this cave, the next minute I was running across a grassy plain!" Aragorn started. "Orcs were miles and miles away from me! There wasn't a thing in sight besides their small, marble sized figures! Then out of nowhere, Smaug appeared in the sky like a blanket! The Orcs were suddenly getting closer! For some reason I couldn't run and..." Aragorn stopped.
: He tried to take in breaths of air, yet his lungs were strained.
: "Shorty, Aragorn, you guys stay here. Goodsport and I will go farther in the cave. To see if there is anything useful or dangerous."
: "You think we're crazy enough to get up and explore anything in the state we're in?" Shorty began. "You guys go, we'll be here when you need us... we hope." Shorty nudged Aragorn. "Right?"
: Aragorn sat there silently.
: "Good," Shorty replied to himself, as if Aragorn had given him an answer.
: "We'll be back," Goodsport assured them, as he followed Meg.
: Short Round just sat there, resting. His eyes started to get heavy. He was starting to fall asleep just as his head jerked up. He noticed that Aragorn was not there.
: "How the heck?" Shorty got up and looked around. Aragorn was just beside him not too long ago.
: "This is heavy duty!" Shorty walked to where he had seen Goodsport and Meg walk.

: - - -

: Outside the cave it was daytime. He heard a humming noise and felt a vibration under his feet. He went on the top lip of the cave to see two figures, which looked like Deirdre and Nobody running towards him.
: "The Dark World Order!" Shorty brought up to himself, "So that's what Nobody looks like?!?"
: They finally reached the cave and jumped in.
: "Hey! It's you!" Nobody exclaimed as he noticed Shorty. "The Phoenix kid! I should have known you would be here!"
: Nobody gestured to Deirdre, who wielded a knife.
: "Listen!" Shorty began. "I... I can explain the whole thing!"
: Shorty backed up as Deirdre came closer. Shorty tripped on a rock and fell flat on his back. He hit his head on another rock. He was helpless. His body went limp. Deidre jumped on Shorty with the knife. Shorty then blew up in an eye-blinding aura of light. Deidre was now face first on the ground...

: - - -

: Shorty was on the floor of the cave, groaning. The back of his head was bruised.
: "Shorty are you okay?" Aragorn asked.
: "My... head!" Shorty mumbled.
: Aragorn attempted to get up when a spasm in his back sent him on his hands and knees.

: - - -

: Goodsport and Meg had been exploring the dark cave when they heard a yell from where Aragorn and Shorty were.
: "Meg," Goodsport said, "go back and see what that was. I'll explore on."
: "Okay, Goodsport. Be careful," Meg ran back.
: Goodsport walked a few yards forward when suddenly the floor beneath him gave out and he was plummeting deeper and deeper through water! A light source had been above him for some unknown reason. The water pressure made his head feel like it was going to explode; his ears were stinging like needles were piercing through them! He suddenly stopped, feeling a vibration through the water. A figure appeared in the water and opened its huge mouth as it advanced toward Goodsport. Goodsport couldn't move left, right, up or downÖ he was frozen somehow. The beast engulfed him...

: - - -

: Goodsport was on the floor, face first in the dark cave. He was soaking wet.
: "AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!" Goodsport shrieked in pain.

: - - -

: "What was that?" Meg said to herself.
: "I guess it was GoodsportÖ AAAHHHH!" Aragorn tried to say in pain.
: "I'll go check it out." Meg assured. "You guys stay here."
: I guess you two don't quite have a choice.
: Meg ran through the cave, when suddenly she heard shrieks, which sounded like a bat or a bird in agony. Suddenly she felt a flying object land on her right shoulder - it's claws bit into her skin like needles through meat.
: "AAAHHHH!" Meg yelled. "Get offÖ get off!"
: Meg tried hitting it off her shoulder when suddenly another one came to her left, and another one flew onto the left side of her stomach. They bit into her as others came and started burying her with fangs...
: She was lying on the floor of the cave. The bats, or whatever they were, were not in sight. Suddenly the whole cave illuminated with light, although the walls of the cave were not in sight. A few feet in front of Meg, Goodsport was on the floor, soaking wet. Behind her, Aragorn and Shorty lay. The cave looked like a giant dome at the moment. A voice suddenly boomed through the room.
: "So you see what I am capable of doing, don't you? It's your worst nightmares! Well, you probably know that you were engulfed in the darkness. Now you will witness the power I can wield onto you! Short Round hates losing in fightsÖ I guess he knows how it feels now. Aragorn thinks he can survive or escape any situationÖ he has no emotion or really looks like he has feelings - he does now! Meg hates creatures, doesn't she? I guess those youthful situations affect you for the rest of your feeble life! The same with you Goodsport! Now you know how it feels to drown! I bet you can imagine what I am doing with your weak Phoenix friends!"
: Sauron's voice suddenly faded away, as did the light. They were trapped in an abyss. Apparently, only Gandalf could help them now - wherever he was.

: Chapter 57 [Nightmares Redux] (written by Tessa)

: Lauren, Micki and Indiana Jones fell into the cave, following Goodsport, Meg, Aragorn, and Short Round. Lauren looked around and called out, "Where is everyone?"
: No one answered as Lauren turned around and saw Micki and her father gone. "Michaela? Dad?" she called quietly.
: "They are not here," said a voice.
: Lauren turned around and saw a familiar face, "Tom?"
: "Why did you make me leave you, Laurie?"
: "I didn't," she stammered, "You wanted to go to Honduras. You were needed there."
: "But I didn't want to leave you alone, pregnant and with Jack. I wanted to stay, but you told me to go."

: - - -

: Indiana Jones saw his daughter going into one direction and called out, "Lauren!"
: He felt something on the ground. He saw a speck of light hitting the ground and saw what it wasÖ snakes. Snakes of various kinds, surrounding his fear. He poked at them with his cane. "I've got to do something," he said as he frantically looked around a way to get rid of the snakes.

: - - -

: Micki was looking around for her mother and grandfather, rubbing her head and asking, "Where am I?"
: She got up and looked around. She followed a light and, seeing her grandfather poking the ground furiously with his cane, called out, "Grandpa!"
: "He can't hear you," said a voice.
: Micki turned around and said, "Who's there?"
: "Your worst fear," the voice answered, as a big Tarantula came from behind. Micki screamed a bit and started to run.
: Then Micki stopped as the spider said, "Afraid of me, little girl?"
: "No," summoning her courage, "You're just a figment of my imagination. You want to frighten me into thinking that I'm not in Valinor."
: The spider screamed and disappeared in smoke as Micki turned and looked at her grandfather. She called out, "Grandpa. It's an illusion."
: "Micki? There's a bunch of snakes here. Don't come closer."
: "Grandpa, listen to me. This cave is playing on people's fears. It just played on my fear of spiders, and now on your fear of snakes."
: "What?" as he looked at the ground and saw the snakes. Micki yelled and said, "Trust me, Grandpa."
: Indiana looked at the ground and pretended the snakes were gone. He closed his eyes, took a few steps, and opened his eyes. He saw the snakes gone, as Micki put a hand on his shoulder and said, "It's okay, Grandpa. Now, where's Mum?"
: Just then, they heard Lauren sobbing loudly as Indiana grabbed his granddaughter's hand and said, "This way."

: - - -

: Lauren's face was streaming with tears as she said, "I didn't want you to stay because of me, Tom. Believe me."
: "There was someone else, Lauren., wasn't there?" he taunted her, "Someone your own age?"
: "No," she screamed, "Tom, I love you. I didn't care that you were older than I was. We promised to get married when you got back."
: "Then why didn't you tell our daughter about me? You told Jack because he found my thingsÖ what about Michaela, Lauren? Are you ashamed of me?"
: "No, I never was," she sobbed, "I'll tell her everything, Tom. Believe me."
: "I don't believe anything you say anymore, Lauren. You should have let me stay with you. And now you have to live with a guilty conscience."
: "Noooo!!" she screamed as a hand rested on her shoulder and she heard a voice, "Lauren."
: "Daddy?" Lauren answered, calling him a name she hadn't used since she was ten. She looked at him and asked, "Did you see him? Did you see him?"
: "It was your imagination, Lauren," Indiana assured her, as he pulled her into a bear hug, "a bad dream."
: Lauren looked through her tears as Micki looked back at her and said, "Who's Tom, Mom?"
: Before Lauren could explain, Indiana said roughly, "Never mind, Micki. Let's find the others first. Then we'll tell you everything. Promise."

: -----

: Micki, Indiana Jones and Lauren were following the passage in the cave. Micki was calling out for the Phoenix Group as Lauren looked at her father and said softly, "You're disappointed in me, aren't you?"
: Indiana looked at his daughter, giving one of his serious expressions and said back, "Why didn't you tell her about Tom?"
: "I don't think she can't handle it."
: Indiana looked at Micki as she walked ahead to find the group members, gave a small smile, and said, "She can, Lauren Marie. The problem is you can't."
: Lauren's face turned stony. She swallowed hard and said, "That's ridiculous."
: "You can't fool me," he replied, gripping her arm, "Your mother hid from me that she was pregnant and miscarried our baby for twenty-six years. She thought she was doing what was best for both of us. But it cost us years, Laurie. Years we could have spent togetherÖ"
: "This is different," she argued back, "You weren't living with someone for nine years, never married, and had two children out of wedlock. What kind of example would that be for her? That her mother and father were too busy to plan for a wedding? Or we were afraid of marriage in the first place?"
: He put a gentle hand on his daughter's shoulder, looked into her eyes and said, "She would understand. I know she would. Micki knows more than you do. She just might surprise you. You did to me after your mother died."
: Lauren was ready to respond when they heard Micki.
: "I found them. Mom, GrandpaÖ this way!"
