Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Fallen Empire

For months I've been trying to work out a storyline for a film script (I had started one earlier but it came to a halt). I want an artifact, but can't seem to come up with one. And I also can't come up with a reasonable plot. I've had him going to Peru, Polynesia, India, but none of them worked (or at least how I had them set up).

Can any of you guys help me? I just need maybe an opening thought. Atlantis is ruled out, but I want a mystical (maybe Biblical) artifact. Something more like the Sankara stones or the Grail than the Ark of the Covenant, though. I don't want an artifact that, at least, shows the power to destroy many people. So, if you've got any ideas I can use, please reply.
