Chapter 2
New York, 1946
A man was writing something on the board, while his students waited with anticipation for him to speak. The man turned around, his wire-rimmed glasses pushed to the bridge of his nose, and pointed out,
"Archeology is not a quest for gold or diamonds. It's the past of what the word was years before we were born."
The door to his classroom creaked open, and Marcus Brody came in, leaning on a cane. The man smiled at his old friend as Indy said,
"We search for the truth in archeology, not mystical hocus pocus or curses. If you want to know about mythology, Dr. Green's mythology is right down the hall."
The students laughed as the bell rang. The man shouted out, "Next week, Celtic archeology, starting with the Celtic language. Read chapters 4 and 5 in Michaelson!"
Marcus Brody chuckled as the man came forward, "Indiana, if your students only knew your double life."
"What double life?" Indy said roughly, gathering his books and papers, "I'm getting old for fieldwork, Marcus. I should stick to grading papers and giving lectures."
"You're sounding like your father. Besides you're good in your fieldwork and you're not old. You'll be turning 47 this year."
Indy shook his head as they walked to his office. Indy put his things down as Marcus asked,
"Any word on Marion?"
Indy shook his head. Marion had walked out of his life without a trace while on an expedition years ago. He had a little hope of her returning after the note she left. Indy stared at Marcus and said,
"Sometimes I wonder if I should settle down..."
"Indiana Jones? Settling down?" Marcus started chuckling, "It's not you, Indy. And I've known you since you were a lad. You still got into trouble back then, if I may add."
Indy started laughing as they heard a knock on the door. Marcus looked at Indy and asked,
"Are you expecting someone?"
Indy shook his head, and he called out for the person to come in. When the person walked in, he was shocked to see who is was --- Mystery Muskalyne, the girl who he helped years ago to find her father...

---------
In case no one read the book....Mystery and her mother Faye are characters in the last Max McCoy's book The Secret of the Sphinx. Indy helped them find out the whereabouts of Kaspar, the magician, and the staff of Aaron and The Omega Book.
