Lauren's Quest chapter 12

Shorty seen Indy, Michael, Eric, Anthony, and Lauren running out of the vacant building. They then seen the car screeching around the corner with gun wielding men sticking out the window.
"Holy shit!" Eric yelled as they all jumped to the floor dodging gun fire! The car screeched and slid down the road, turned around and was about to make another round.
"Quick, get in the car!" Indy yelled as Eric and Michael helped up Anthony as Shorty ran and turned on the car. Indy got in the front seat, Eric, Anthony, Lauren and Michael squeezed in the backseat.
"Go, go!" Indy yelled as the drive by shooters were coming at them again! Shorty pulled out and turned the corner as bullets were fired at them again! The bullets hit cars in front of them and pulverised two street lights.
"Wow!" Shorty exclaimed. Suddenly bullets were fired again and they all ducked as they shattered the windows!
"WOW!" Shorty exclaimed in even more shock. Eric was taking out his gun ready to reload when another car came from ahead.
"Hey Doctor Jones, we got company!" He exclaimed. Eric was loaded and stuck out the window firing furiously at the car! The bullets hit the other men sticking out the car and some hit the bullet proof windows! Shorty kept driving as fast as possible toward the car to avoid the other one from behind! The driver of the car ahead put on the breaks and spun the wheel doing a clockwise three-sixty degree spin! Shorty was able to steer to the side of the road between the skidding car and a street light coming inches from being crushed! The car from behind which was following them at top speed rammed into the back of the other car making it slide and hit the cars on the sidewalk which were crushed between the sliding car and a street light! The car blew up sending a stunning flame through the air!
"Ha ha!" Indy chuckled, a lopsided grin spreading across his still youthful face.
"Exactly!" Shorty said in an agreeing tone. They were coming near docks and a giant lake when the gangsters started to shoot. They all ducked as bullets came through where the windows would have been! Shorty lost control of the wheel and skidded on the slippery ground! The car turned over spun around while skidding towards the end of the dock and finally stopped! Indy flew out the passenger side window and jumped back, holding onto the rim!
"Doctor Jones!" Shorty yelled trying to squeeze through the wreckage toward Indy! A quarter of Shorty's body hung out the window as he reached for Indy who was hanging over the cold river! As Shorty grabbed the archeologist's hand, Indy put his feet on the support beams of the dock and climbed back up into the car. They suddenly heard the sound of a car come towards them and stop. The sound of four doors opening and shutting at the same time echoed throughout followed by the eerie sound of footsteps which hinted a following death! The longest few seconds of all of their lives! The men took out crow bars and took the doors completely off! Patrick's brother Joey who was also head of this gang went on his knees and peered in the wreckage.
"He's here, he's alive. Take him out and bring him to the car." Joey commanded the men with as soft and patient tone possible. They reached in there and yanked out Anthony who was face to face with Joey.
"This time will be the last time out path's will cross I will be sure of that. This time we won't give up as easily!"
Anthony spit in Joey's face. Joey then back handed Anthony.
"Take him to the car!" Joe wiped the saliva off his face. "And as for the rest of them - You can go ahead and kill them."
Another car pulled up near the dock and out stepped Patrick and a few other men.
"Ah, you caught them!" He exclaimed a grin finally coming across his face.
"And now we will kill them!" Joey added.
"I believe we will take the girl as well."
"She is of no more use to us than Anthony! We will get our revenge along with the secrets to the lost city!"
"Lauren can assist us with that also!"
"Alright, get the girl but put keep a sharp eye on her if she makes any more moves!"
Patrick gave the signal to get the girl and she soon was yanked out the wrecked car. Another car came up and Lauren and Anthony were put in it. The car drove off as Patrick and Joey stood with a few of their men near the dock. They started the car and put a brick on the steering wheel making it zoom off towards the wrecked car! It hit the car making it fly into the lake!
ìLetís go.î Patrick said as him and Joey got into the other car and drove away.
