: : : : : shifting moods wasnt the problem. it brought variety. the problem was the tugowar deirdre mentioned even tho it was fixed by chapter 43. and goodsport had to mediate and put up with all that. i dont envy the position he was in.

... as far as contributing and plot conflicts, I remember that the first several chapters of the Tessa story went pretty smoothly (until the Chapters got into the 30's or 40's... I can't remember exactly).

All that really needs to be done is for whoever is contributing a chapter to read the previous chapters and fully keep up with the story. Introducing surprises and plot twists into a chapter are not a problem (many times their quite welcome - I certainly wouldn't want to give those away before I write a chapter), as long as the author stays within the story and stays consistent with what was written before. Unfortunately, that became a major problem with the Tessa story through the latter half of the 50's.

And if something is introduced that normally couldn't be in the story, a really good and creative explanation for it should be given!

I guess my point is that common sense and the courtesy (to the other authors) to fully keep up with the story is all that is really needed! :)
