Another important factor to also keep in mind about the time...

: We know the year is 1939 and that it is like fall, winter, or spring in the northern hemisphere and spring, summer, or fall in the southern (i.e. Brazil). But when exactly is it? Many important things happened that year. In September Germany invaded Poland, and in November Al Capone was realeased from prison. There were many more historical events that happened that year, and to effectively write (i.e. the "buzz" of recent happenings) we need to know when this is happening so we can better write the story to it.

: I don't know if Goosport just wants to give us a time of year or date or whatever, or if we should debate it and all the authors decide.

: Just my thoughts.

If this story is decided to be past September 3, 1939 (the day Britain and France declared war on Germany starting WWII if I'm not mistaken) remember this: No official combat was taking place in the first few months of WWII (just in case future writers wanted to integrate something about WWII). It was mostly a time of training their troops and building up their weapons and supplies. Lots of "posturing" between the opposing nations was going on. There were a few naval battles I believe in the first few months (if memory from reading my Social text book serves me right) but other then that, there was no combat. Just something to let you all know. :)
