question about golden spider

in one of the later chapters (i cant remember which) i think someone said that muppet stole the bentley limousine he rides in. but earlier (chapter 5) brett the mountie found that the bentley belonged to muppet and was even registered to muppet so obviously muppet had bought it already

is this a mistake in continuity or did i read it wrong? or was the stolen car not the limousine but another car entirely and had nothing to do with muppet?

im confused. please help
