: That's an easy question. We all write fan fiction because we want to be in control of our favorite characters while still being able to remold it into what we want it to be. It's all about being able to control an outcome, and I think that's why any writer of fiction wants to do, whether using a Lucas owned and created character or an original one.

Tthat's part of it, I suppose. Perhaps later I can go into more detail, but to me it all boils down to telling a good story - kind of like being a storyteller at a campfire or whatever. As a story goes along, it oftentimes takes on a life of its own (sometimes in ways not previously expected), so sometimes the interesting part is just following the way the story takes you (although keeping consistency to what was written before in the story is absolutely paramount!).

Well, I'll contribute more to this discussion a little later when I have more time. I hope that helped, though! :)
