: Episode 1

: When I was a student at the university Professor Jones was teaching I had the honor to attend some of his lectures on unconventional archaeology. It was no secret that our teacher had embarked on dangerous trips across the continents, had fought against the darkest forces of evil, had risked his life and seen things that most of us will never have the chance to lay our eyes upon. Much as we wouldn’t like to believe that he had actually seen and drank from the Holy Grail or that he had really witnessed human sacrifices to goddess Kali the fact remained that these things were real. So every time he was lecturing we all rushed to the hall like hungry schoolchildren to hear him expounding his theories.
: One day he talked to us about something that had been troubling him for quite a lot of time. It was about the first expedition that he had set out to complete even before the discovery of the Lost Arc but due to his mother’s unexpected death he didn’t have the courage to continue.
: He told us about King Midas of Phrygia and the myth around his name. According to his sayings King Midas was a real person who ruled ancient Phrygia, a region in Asia Minor back in the 8th century BC. Then a story says that Dionysus the Greek god of wine gave Midas the power to turn everything he touched into gold. Unable to eat or drink, the King prayed to be relieved by this gift and Dionysus instructed him to wash in the River Pactolus which since then has had golden sands. He also gave him a golden jar with which he washed off his palace and his children who had turned golden.
: There was silence in the hall. Then I heard some suppressed laughter from behind. Uneasy about the whole situation I raised my had and asked for the permission to speak.
: “What you just told us Mr. Jones is very interesting. I come from Greece and would like to help you in any supplementary research you may need.”
: That day I met Professor Jones after class. He thanked me for my interest and told me that he would appreciate it if I could work as a part-time researcher for him. “Please come over to my house at 8.00 p.m. There’s something I want to show you,” he added.
: It was five minutes to eight and I was crossing his street. I found his garden gate open and let myself in. I went up a few stairs and found myself facing his front door. There was a short note on it: I’m sorry I couldn’t make it to our appointment Randy but I think I found something. Don’t worry however because we will meet soon. There’s something for you under the doormat.
: I lifted the carpet and found a white envelope. I opened it. It was a plane ticket for Turkey.
