: : I was watching Raiders the other night when I noticed that Indy handed his gun and whip over to Belloq. Did he have extras when he got home? If a whip now a days is $350 how much was it for Indy and did he have enough to afford it?
: : I seem to think so because of all the things he sold to marcus. I think Indy is rather well off. Don't you guys?

: Indy only hands over his revolver to Belloq. The Smith & Wesson triple-lock revolver was a pretty standard weapon, available at about any gun and hardware store in the US during the 1930's, and weren't that expensive to obtain for the college profess at that time. Gun prices didn't start going through the roof until after the mid 1950's, comparing salaries to it's purchase power, so neither the revolver nor the whip would have set Indy back that much in 1936, and both would have been very easy to acquire. Interesting question ablut Indy's financial status. In a Raiders script I read, he was living is a rather expensive home, well out of range of the average college professor, but in the movie Raiders, he does not exhibit the same lifestyle.
