: So, if Indy had remained in the cave would he be immortal? NO! Because the Grail crossed the Great Seal! But, the alternative scenario, if Elsa hadn't crossed the Seal with the Grail and Indy or Henry or anybody had stayed with the Grail, they would have been immortal. If you listen to the dialogue, it helps a lot.
