I know that he used to be on the show, but left about halfway through the series. After he left I stopped watching the series. Shortly after that it left Canadian TV (as you can see, the universe does in fact revolve around me). Are you sure that it was an all new premiere? It wasn't a bad show, and I'd like to see some new episodes.
Also, since the Last Crusade John Rhys Davies was in the Wing Commander PC games.
