It would stand to reason that if Indy was willing to trade the remains of the first Emperor of the Manchu dynasty for it, it must a pretty special history. After all, shouldn't Nerhachi belong in a museum? It seems pretty out of character to me.

Indy was after fortune and glory in this time period of his life. Remember the year it took place in. I'm guessing it was just a big diamond!
