In Reply to: MacGregor or McCoy? NO QUESTION. posted by Dietrich on February 23, 1999 at 21:02:38:

Dietrich,

In relation to what you said and what I tried getting across in my past posts
it is very evident that I am too a very great fan of McGregor (even my nickname
implies so). I find McGregor's style in depicting our favorite hero more realistic
and more fitting to Indy's lifestyle and character. But that doesn't exactly mean that
I abhor McCoy's novels. No, they are indeed quite readable and like you said close to
the movie type of adventure thing.

But somehow, I've always preferred the creator of Deirdre and Jack. It is a pity that
Jack, being Indy's best friend never was mentioned anymore in the other novels(except that
brief incident in Caidins). I would have found it interesting to know what happened to
Jack, Katarina(his wife) and their kids.

I suppose that is the trouble with having different writers write one Series...that sense
of consistency just seems to go slack and the readers either sigh and forget about it, or start
arguing with the other fans of who did a better job.

***sigh***
Deirdre

ps. ANd you were right when you stated that Deirdre was the best thing that ever happened to Indy. :*D
