Well, let's see here...
Indy and Willie fall through the roof of the car, and Indy immediatly tells Shorty to step on it. Then a car chase ensues. Shorty really never had time to ask about Wuhan. And maybe since Indy and Willie showed up, not mentioning Wuhan, well maybe Shorty put 2 and 2 together and figured out that he's dead.
