Last Crusade continuity and other stuff

So Indy and Marcus are suddenly without hats and everything once they are in the library with Elsa. (Cut sequence has all their stuff on a library conference table). After Marcus gets knocked out, and Indy and Elsa escape in the boats, how do they get their stuff back? Did Marcus just wake up, get their stuff and go back to the hotel? And why would the Brotherhood of the Cruciform Sword come bolting out of the Library as if they knew Indy found a way out? That's pretty hammered!

Also, how long was Dad a prisoner in the castle? If you think about it, it would have taken the Grail Diary WEEKS to get from Venice to New England, man. And on the very day that it gets to Indy, Donovan pitches the whole Grail quest to Indy. Pretty convenient. Dad HAD to have been sitting on his butt for a VERY long time before he got rescued. No Airborne Express in 1938. So why didn't the Nazis torture him for the month he was sitting in the Castle? Did Donovan suspect Indy might have the diary? Was Elsa completely retarded not to have gotten the diary from Dad if she was sleeping with the ol' timer? (Well, yes, obviously since she went looking for the Roman 'X' on the library bookshelf...what a dolt!). Enlighten me on these issues. It's fun to speculate.--nitzsche
