: The Hindenberg blew up in May 1937 in New Jersey and since LC takes place in 1938 they had to be on a different Zeppelin--probably a fictional one, but there were several Zeppelins besides the Hindenberg. In retrospect I'm surprised Indy's Dad didn't make some wisecrack like "Oh great, I hope we don't blow up like the Hindenberg" or something.

The Zeppelin they were on was supposed to be the Hindenberg. The continuity people weren't paying attention and let the flub through.
