: : The way I see it, pseudoscience presents itself as scientific, using what appears to be the methods of science to attempt to prove a point, but doesn't allow disproof. With real science, it's a given that any theory can be knocked down if you have the evidence. However, things like the Mars face just continue to propagate despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Why didn't they show the latest images from Mars Observer. It's a freakin' mountain!

: Micah,

: Your description of the difference between science and pseudoscience
: would have received an "A" in my Research Methods course! You are
: absolutely correct regarding the necessity of having the possibility
: of obtaining disconfirming evidence to refute a theory or hypothesis.
: Without such a possibility, you have nothing more than pseudoscience.
: It may be entertaining and maybe even correct, but it is definitely
: *not* science.

On the above mentioned Fox program, Zahi Hawass challenged the others to show their proof. And he would show his in rebuttal. Of course they could not. I have read Graham Hancock and enjoyed his books very much. He has some very interesting opinions. When he can substantiate them with hard evidence, then they will become fact.
