Gunga Din

Has anyone seen this movie? I'd always heard about how much it influenced Spielberg, was one of his favorite movies, big influence on TOD, etc, but I'd never seen it before tonight. It was more than an influence on TOD! TOD is largely a remake of Gunga Din! At least, TOD took all the action scenes from Gunga Din. Some similarities off the top of my head:
Thugees
Kali idol
Hero tied up by hands and whipped by big Thugee (in same dress)
Snake Pit (not TOD, but you know the reference...)
Rope bridge
Rope bridge breaking, lots of Thugee soldiers falling off
Heroes going over cliff into river at beginning
Elephant gags
Temple interior
Costumes of thugees
Mola Ram looks exactly like Thugee cult leader in G.D.
British calvary to the rescue against Thugees at end
Thugee attempts to kill hero by strangling

Oh, there were so many more, but I can't remember them now. Anyway, the movie certainly "inspired" many, many aspects of Temple Of Doom. If anyone's interested, it's worth checking out.

PS: There is talk now of remaking Gunga Din, but I don't see how that could possibly be done without everyone thinking it's ripping off TOD.
