In high school once, I was late to my creative writing class, held in the computer lab first thing in the morning. My incompetent teacher, with whom I already had an adversarial relationship, took the opportunity to not let me into class and send me to the office for tardiness. From there, you are normally sent to the library for the period, but I got the secretary to write me a pass to the computer lab. So, back, to the lab, where class was being held. When the teacher demanded to know what I was doing there when she sent me away, I used the line I'd always been waiting to use: "I'm like a bad penny. I keep turning up." Well, it's not that good a story now, but at the time I felt very triumphant.
