Chapter 12

Kate stared at Eliot wide-eyed and could not believe what she was hearing. She put down her drink and walked to the window. Eliot looked at her and said,
“Kate, say something.”
“What has he gotten himself into?”
“Cianelli is part of an Italian Mafia in Sicily. They want to find the Heart of Shiva in order to be powerful in ruling the world. The FBI thinks Indy joined forces to help them.”
“He would not do that, especially after what happened with his last benefactor.”
“The FBI have an special agent following him, a woman who is one of the best in the division. Her name is Dawn Rampage, here’s a picture,” handing it to Kate.
She looked at the picture and saw the woman. She thumbed it for a while and said,
“What do you need to know?”
“You said Indy went to Delhi. Did he go with anyone else?”
“A fellow archeologist, Patar Kali. They go back ten years.”
“Kate,” grasping her hand, “I need to know everything you know about this expedition.”
“I know as little as you do,” Kate said turning around, “Indy comes home one day, tells me he’s going after the Heart of Shiva, flying to Delhi with Kali, and should be back in two weeks, he’s hopes anyway.”
“Where is he staying?”
“Cianelli got a place for them in Delhi. I’m not sure where.”
Eliot rose and started out for the door as Kate said,
“Eliot, where are you going?”
“To find Indy.”
“I’m going with you.”
“No, you’re not.”
“Eliot, Indy’s all that I have left,” she said quietly, “All of my family’s dead and I lost Indy once and I won’t do it again.”
Eliot stared at her and said,
“You never told him why you really broke up with him, did you?”
Kate shook her head and said,
“He still thinks I broke it off because I felt we were getting too serious.”
Eliot shook his head in frustration as he said,
“He has to know, Kate.”
“And he will someday. Now, are you letting me come with you or will I have to find him on my own?”
Eliot looked at her and said,
“Pack a suitcase and be ready in ten minutes.”
Eliot went to the phone as Kate rushed upstairs to pack. Eliot thought to himself Indy’s in for the shock of his life.

Indy and Kali headed towards the mountain shown on the map to find the treasure, unknown that it was a copy. Kali looked at him and said,
“Are you sure we can trust her?”
“Marion’s harmless. She wouldn’t try to go after it herself.”
Kali laughed at Indy’s tone and said,
“Are you sure you don’t have a thing for her too?”
“Look, we tried once but it didn’t work out. I moved on and so has she.”
“I think she still loves you.”
“Look,” angrily, “Let’s go and find the heart and go get our fortune.”
Kali turned around and said,
“I heard something, Indy. Behind us.”
Indy cautiously turned around and saw snow coming towards them,
“Avalanche!”
