The solid wall of snow rumbled down the mountain, picking up speed and force as it went. Indy started running. He knew it would probably be futile, but he was damned if he was going to stand and let himself be engulfed and smashed without trying to avoid it. He pumped his arms and legs - his head was filled with the sound of the deluge of snow. He dared a glance back. Kali seemed transfixed by the horror heading towards him. Indy darted back and grabbed his friend by the collar. He pulled him with him as he continued his descent of the mountain. The avalanche roared with elemental fury as it gained speed, power and size. Indy and Kali ran as fast as they could, dwarfed by the terrifying majesty of the mountains fury.

Trees were crushed like matchsticks as the avalanche roared down the mountain. It was a thing of raw and unbridled beauty. A thing of unimaginable violence and fury. Indy stumbled and fell, he instinctively let go of his friends shoulder.

For a split second, a moment frozen in time, all he heard was his own breathing. The sound surpassing the dull roar of the avalanche. He felt the cold of the air and the dampness of the ground seeping through his knees. He closed his eyes and a womans face immediately came to mind. He felt Kali's hand grab the shoulder of his leather jacket. This small act of human contact galvanised his survival instinct. He was damned if he was going to die at 51. He scrambled to his feet. The sould of his boots started pumping against the ground. He glanced to his side. Patars face was covered in a sheen of fine sweat, an expression of determination etched onto his features. He noticed that his friend was muttering something under his breath as he ran. A single phrase over and over. Patar was praying for their lives.

The avalanche was gaining on them. Indy glanced over his shoulder - his whole field of vision was filled with a white wall of snow. He looked ahead of him. There was no hope.

Suddenly Patar was gone. He vanished, as if into thin air. Indy had a moment to ponder his friends fate and then the snow hit him. He didn't really feel it. The wall of snow was too immense, too large to actually feel it. However, he felt himself lurching forward. Carried along by the sheer power and force of the avalanche. He tried to breath. It was like suffocating or drowning. He felt his treasured hat come off his head. Indy made a futile effort to grab it. His world went dark.

He thought . . ."Marion!"

Thousands of miles away a plane took off. It's destination was the city of Goa. Eliot looked at Kate. He felt old pangs creeping into his soul.

Damn it! He was happily married. Indy was his friend!

Out of the corner of his eye he saw Kate's hand spasm. She looked at him, a single tear running from her left eye.

"Eliot! Indy's in trouble!"

He smiled.

"Kate, Indy's always in trouble!"

His world was warm and comforting. He opened his eyes. Everything was white. He moved his head. It moved but not too easily. He felt as if he were wrapped up in a cotton wool coccoon.

He frowned slightly. Then the reality of the situation hit him. He was buried alive. A moment of panic stole over him. He forced himself to breath slowly. Fighting the panic. He was alive, which was good. He'd only stay that way if he kept his wits around him. His entire world was white. He started digging with his hands. His gloves protecting his skin from the cold of the snow.

Sweat beaded his forehead. Indy had been digging slowly and meticulously (with the patience of an archaeologist) for a while. In this world time had no meaning. He looked at his watch. The face had been shattered during the avalanche. He cursed inwardly and started his task. This was how Marions dad had died. Crushed under a mountain. He looked ahead. There was just white. He could be digging deeper into the snow for all he knew. Digging his own damned grave. Indy closed his eyes. Jesus, he was tired. Perhaps a little sleep would help.

Yeah, that would help!

Indy slowly closed his eyes. Letting the warmth and comforting darkness embrace him.

Suddenly a pair of hands grabbed him. He opened his eyes angrily. He felt himself being hauled forward. It was like being born.

His world exploded with cold.

"You are not going to die like that crazy father of mine! Wake up Jones!" Marions voice slapped his senses. He opened his eyes. Marion Ravenwood smiled and leaned forward. Her lips met his and they kissed.

Another familiar voice spoke.

"Indy, I've found a cave! There's something I think you should see!2

It was Patar!
