Chapter 17

Dawn Rampage walked into the room as Eliot said,
“Special Agent Rampage, how did you know I was here?”
“It was not difficult,” sitting on the edge of the bed, “There are very few Americans in these parts.”
“What’s going on here?” Marion demanded, “Who are you?”
“Mr. Ness, you’ve told them everything, didn’t you?”
“Only Miss Tyler, she’s the woman you saw back in the States.”
“A violation of FBI code,” lighting a cigarette and take a long drag. Then she focuses on Marion and said,
“Ah, Marion Ravenwood, daughter of the late Abner. Am I right?”
“Right, but who are you?”
Rampage looked at Indy and said,
“Ah, the famous archeologist Henry Jones, or should I say Indiana Jones.”
“What is going on here?” Kali asked.
“And Patar Kali, the archeologist famous in these parts, or so I have heard.”
Marion stood up and said,
“Look, lady, are you going to tell us what’s going on here or what?”
“Patience,” putting out the cigarette out, “I am here regarding your matters with Cianelli, Mr. Jones.”
“Cianelli, why?”
“He’s part of the Italian mafia. His boss wants the artifact you were sent to after.”
“Mafia?” Kali asked, “What mafia?”
“It’s led by Vincenzo Dolomite in Sicily,” Eliot said.
“Dolomite. The high ranking member of the mafia, I’ve heard of him,” Indy said.
“So you did not know Cianelli works for Dolomite?” Rampage asked.
“Now, I do,” Indy said.
“So Dolomite has Kate, right?” Marion asked.
“No, Roshann has Kate,” Indy said.
“Roshann?” Rampage asked, “Oh, the competitor Dolomite wants annihilated.”
Indy got up and went towards the door as Eliot yelled,
“Indy, where are you going?”
“To get Kate. Alone.”
“But, Indy, he wants you killed,” Kali said.
“Rather me than Kate,” as he left.

Back in her cell, Kate was dreaming. She saw Indy’s face from college, shocked as she left him. Her dream shifted to four months later when her mother, who found her, passed out on the floor, rushed her to the hospital. The doctor came to her side hours later and told her that she lost the baby. She was crying in her mother’s arms as she said,
“Katie, darling, the pain will go away. I promise.”
“I sent Indy away, Mom, and I lost the baby because of it.”
“Stop it, you did not lose it because of it. It wasn’t time yet, sweetheart.”
“But, Mom…”
“Listen to me,” lifting her chin in her hands, “It gives you a chance to find the one you love and tell me what happened. When you’re ready.”
“I don’t know if I can.”
“In time, you will, Katie, you will.”
Kate woke up, pulled a locket from under her shirt and opened it. Inside was a picture of her mother and father, taken a week before they died, as Kate looked at it and said,
“Watch over me, Mom.”

Indy walked out of the hotel when a man approached him, put a gun in his back, and said,
“Dr. Jones, I am here to take you to Roshann. No monkey business.”
Indy nodded and asked,
“Where is she?”
“Your wife is safe with master.”
“She’s not my wife.”
“As you say,” leading him to a jeep where two other men were waiting. They took Indy’s gun and whip from him and rode towards Roshann’s lodgings … and to Kate.

Kate fell asleep again and had another dream of how they met again. It was shortly after Marcus Brody’s death, and the museum was holding a memorial for the man, showing all the artifacts for the museum he helped acquire. Kate felt out of place with all the mourners there and looked for a place by herself. She went towards a door and saw an exhibit not on display. She looked around before she notices a man in a pinstriped suit, with his head in his hands.
“Oh, excuse me, I didn’t realize anyone was here.”
The man turned around to face her and said,
“It’s alright.”
“Are you alright?”
“I’m fine,” brushing it off and indicating the door to the other room, “I can’t stand crowds.”
“Neither can I,” smiling a bit, “ I came to escape it.”
The man smiled at her and said,
“Was Mr. Brody a friend of yours?”
“Years ago, when I was in college I met him when I came to New York with my father.”
“I see. You’re not from here?”
“Not originally,” then offered her hand and said,
“My name’s Dr. Katherine Tyler and you are?”
The man looked at her surprisingly and said,
“Dr. Jones. Indiana Jones.”
Kate’s eyes widened and said,
“Indy?”
Indy smiled a bit and said,
“It’s been a long time.”
‘I’d say,” smiling.
Indy offered his arm and said,
“How about we go across the street for some coffee and catch up on things?”
“What about Marcus’s memorial?”
“I think he’ll understand.”
Kate took his arm and said,
“Sure,” as they walked out.
Kate was disrupted by the sound of someone saying,
“Get up, Miss Tyler, master wants to see you.”

Ok, this time I mean it, this is the last chapter from me for while.
Hopefully I'll be here on Monday.
