Distressing the Indy jacket

With a lot of posts on here re distressing the Indy jacket, I thought I'd share a thought. Maybe someone could back me up on this?

I'm sure I read in Derek Taylor's The Making of Raiders... that to get the distressed look the jacket was roughed up with stones, sandpaper, dyed, etc.. I've not read the book for while now but the info sounds very familiar.

I'll check the book again and see if I can find that info.

In the meantime, it's an option for anyone wanting to do the DIY distressing on their jacket. You could try the technique on an old leather jacket first to see if it works?

PS - Have you noticed the variations of distress on Indy's jacket throughout the trilogy. I think the Crusade version looks the best.
