The three drain hole issue has stumped me for a while myself. My
spin on it is that they perhaps required an extra hole for allowing
more ventilation into the bag--remember the fact that fire requires
oxygen to burn. So, in order for the burning effect to work
properly, they would need to have more ventilation coming into the
bag, so there's perhaps the reason for an extra drainage hole.

Also note the conspicous patch where the stones will eventually
fall through--the patch doesn't quite match the rest of the bag
(though it's a pretty good match) and is again necessary for the
effect to work properly. It was probably not cloth so that the
burning effect could be more controlled.

As for the strap; yes, it has always technically been one piece with
a loop on one end which is riveted to the buckle post while the other
end of the strap is riveted to the "O" ring on the bag. Also note that
the buckle has a small slider on it. An authentic bag buckle should
have "ENGLAND" stamped on the inside of the buckle (of course you
don't see it on film, but for those in the know). The purpose of the
loop is to adjust the strap.
