Stupid Atlantean Sentry Statues!!

Been playing Fate of Atlantis, and I have a problem. The sentry statue, past the canal, in the outer ring of Atlantis. I know I'm supposed to arrange the gears in order to lower the right arm, following the diagram of the cupboard I got the crescent gear from. The trouble is, when I arrange the statue part from the sentry that crushed the Nazi, and the wheel I also used on the orachulum machine, and the crescent gear, It doesn't work. I placed the wheel underneath the mouth statue part, and placed the crescent on the right side. I fed the mouth a bead. It turned a few times, then stopped. What am I doing wrong? I don't mind spoilers. If you need the info, I'm playing the team path, with Sophia.
