missing scene?

This is a question for anyone who has seen Raiders on the big screen.
At the beginning, when we see one of Indy's helpers scream and run off when he sees a statue is there something missing here? I read somewhere that someone gets killed in a trap just before Satipo's friend pulls his gun out on Indy.Whatever happened it was cut out of the video release.
