Joel, Dale pretty much answered your questions in full, but I still want to add my impute on the DM whip. It's a great whip. It's a little pricey, but it is definitely worth it if bullwhips are your thing. It's very well made and the quality will put those cheep whips to shame. I use whips pretty extensively and as long as you take care of them they will hold up very well. You don't necessarily need to baby them, but take care of them.
