:
: : Can anybody tell wich city was so important in this movie?

: Sure, that's an easy one. The city in question is Iskenderun, Turkey.
: Iskenderun is the modern name, and the old one is Alexandretta.
: Literally "Little Alexandria" The city was founded/named to commerate Alexander The Greats' victory over the Persians at Issus in 333 b.c. It's in the provence of Hatay. Hatay came under French control after WW I, and later (when Indy was there in 1938) it was actually it own little Republic, albeit under Syrian responsibility, until June 1939 when it was returned to Turkey.

I wonder if they traded it back to Turkey for another Rolls Royce? Just a thought.....Regards. Michaelson
