Chapter 26 by Tessa

Eliot sat by Kate’s bedside in the Goa hospital. Upon their arrival, doctors had performed emergency surgery to remove the bullet out of her and slipped into unconsciousness. He called Kate’s grandfather in New York and, upon hearing of her condition, arranged to fly out of New York to Goa. Eliot looked at her, lying still in her bed, and said,
“Kate, you have to come back to us.”
He clasped her hand, kissed it, and said,
“I don’t know what I would do without you.”
“Mr. Ness?”
He turned around and saw an elderly gentleman behind him. The man smiled and said,
“I’m Jack Tyler, Katie’s grandfather,” extending his hand.
“Mr. Tyler,” shaking his hand as Jack said, “How is she?”
“She hasn’t come out of it, yet.”
Jack looked at his granddaughter, went to her side, and said,
“Katie, its Grandpa. Wake up, darling.”
Kate didn’t move as Jack asked,
“How did this happen?”
“She was protecting Indy. Took a bullet for him.”
“That’s my Katie. Thinking of others rather than herself,” smiling a bit.
Then Jack looked around and asked,
“Where is Indy?”
“At a mountain, looking for the Heart of Shiva.”
“The fabled Heart of Shiva?”
“You know about it?”
“I dabbled in archeology a bit, my boy,” as he smiled a bit and asked, “Why isn’t he here?”
“He was more or less forced to, sir. In exchange for treatment for her injury.”
“Are you any relation to this woman?” a voice asked.
Jack and Eliot turned around and faced a doctor. Jack stepped forward and said,
“I’m her grandfather. He’s,” pointing at Eliot, “A friend of hers.”
“I’m Doctor Ganges. I’m been working on her.”
“How is she?” Jack asked.
“Stable,” the doctor said, “She took a bad hit, but we got the bullet out. She should be fine if she wakes up.”
“Thank God,” Eliot said.
“But I’m concerned about another matter.”
“What matter is that?” Jack asked.
“Did you realize she is carrying another life?”

Indy and Marion reached the cave a few hours afterward Kate left the hospital. He could not believe that he was married and might be losing his wife just after a few hours. As he picked furiously in the cave, Marion looked at him and said,
“She’ll be alright, Jones.”
“Damn it, Marion. You don’t understand.”
“I know you want to be there, but you had no choice. What would your wife want to do?”
“To do what’s right,” as he looked at Marion.
“Then do what you think is right.”
Indy nodded as she looked at the area he was throwing the pick at and said,
“Indy, is that what I think it is?”

Chapter 27 by Tessa
Indy and Marion stared at the blue object. Indy picked around it as Marion caught the Heart in her hands. She stared at it as she heard,
“Now, give it to me, Miss Ravenwood.”
Marion turned around and saw Dolomite, pointing a gun at them. Marion looked at Indy, who nodded, as he reached out for the gun in his belt. He pointed it at Dolomite, and shot him in his arm. Dolomite clutched his arm as Indy said,
“You almost killed my wife. For what? This treasure?”
Dolomite looked at Indy and said,
“The Heart is of unspeakable power, Dr. Jones. One can gain power imaginable.”
“Even if you kill people for it?”
“You do what it takes, Dr. Jones. Didn’t you take this task for the money?”
“No. I only did it to save my wife.”
Indy heard another shot as he saw Dolomite’s shirt turn bloody. Indy turned around and saw Marion with a revolver in her hands. Dolomite collapsed on the ground and died. Indy took the heart, put it in his satchel, and ran out of the cave with Marion.
“Well, well, Dr. Jones, what do we have here?” a voice said.
Indy and Marion faced Indy’s benefactor – Peter Cianelli – who had two men with him and all of them pointing guns at them.

“Doctor”, Eliot said, “Are you saying she’s pregnant?”
Nodding, “I suspect she’s barely a month along. Probably did not know herself.”
“Oh, Katie,” Jack said hugging her, “You hear that child? You’re going to have a baby.”
“Who is the father?” the doctor asked.
“Her husband,” Eliot said.
“Husband?” Jack said, “Katie and Indy got married?”
“Yesterday, Mr. Tyler,” Eliot somberly, “Just before she got shot.”
Jack looked at his granddaughter, smiled, and said,
“Just like how Katie wanted it. Something quiet, away from the press…”
Eliot nodded as he looked at Kate, the other woman he loved. He started crying, and walked out of the room. Jack was stunned at his behavior but then realized that Eliot was in love with Kate too.

I know, I've been busy but it seems I'm the only one working on this.
Hint, hint.
