: Brian is correct. The ribbon is dark brown, not black. Where people get confused is from looking at certain stills from the movie. Depending on the lighting conditions during the filming, the ribbon may actually appear black. But if you've ever seen the actual hat Harrison Ford wore during Last Crusade and donated to the Smithsonian (I have), you'll know the ribbon is really dark brown. -MP
