: The films are showing their age however. Crusade had an annoying buzz
: through most of the picture, and even drowned out some of the dialogue
: at times.

I don't think Crusade's sound problem was due to age, as the Temple
print was perfect. Maybe just a bad copy... The Raiders print had
obviously aged though. The first reel seemed to have a reddish tint,
and later scenes on the "ark-opening" island seemed washed out.
But these were just minor things I noticed, which didn't detract
from enjoying the action on the big screen.

: Still overall it was a great experience. My friend and I talked
: about all the things we missed while watching it on the TV screen,
: noticing a lot more on the 40 foot screen.

I agree, the action scenes like the bar and marketplace in Raiders
were even better seeing them fullscreen. For example, I've always wondered
while watching the Raiders video why Marion seems so out-of-it and
helpless in the marketplace action sequence right before Indy throws
her in a hay wagon. In the fullscreen version, Marion's over on the
right repeatedly whacking one of the guys over the head with something,
while Indy fights off the others.

Plus, I finally saw the R2-D2/C3PO hieropglyphs in the Well of Souls.
It's on the column to the left of Indy (his right) when they're opening
the stone lid off the Ark. Since I knew where to look I could also
see it when I went to the videotape. It's onscreen much longer
in the fullscreen version, but only for a split second on video.
Pause the tape as Sallah moves in position to lift the lid, before
he obscures the column to the left of Indy.

It was great to see Indy as he was meant to be seen, with a whole
theater of people gasping, jumping, and cringing at all the right
spots. I highly recommend it. :-)
