THE SANKARA STONES?

Hey,
A question that's always kind of bugged me! In Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, how much of the mythology is "real"? I mean in Hindu mythology do the Sankara stones actually exist? I'm not really up on my Hindu and Indian mythology.

P.S I wore a fedora in Egypt and everyone on the tour called me Indy - but I'm never going to see 99% of these people again so . . . who cares?
