Raiders error?

Hi,

Don't know if this is an old sighting already, but it caught my eye last week when I re-watched Raiders.

Indy and Sallah are meeting the old man, who says that the staff of Ra is six khadams (sp?) long, of which you take one khadam to honor the God. Sallah says six khadams is 72 inches (180 centimeters), which would make one khadam 12 inches long. 72-12 is 60 inches (150 centimeters). But, in the Map Room, it's easy to see that the staff Indy is using is way longer than he is (at least 20-30 centimeters taller than Ford), even with the five to ten centimeters that goes in the hole. Is there a logical explanation for this or... did Indy look for the Ark in the wrong place, too?
