Well, I can't answer your question, but i can assure you that not all girls are like that... personally, i hated armageddon, loathed independence day, i boycotted titanic, & don't even get me started on these modern day, wannabe horror flicks (hell, give me a george romero zombie movie any day!)... now, what do i go for? well, foreign films, particularly asian cinema (anything-- from Toho Studios classics like "Destroy All Monsters" to those awesome HK FantAsia films starring kick butt chicks like Michelle Yeoh & Brigitte Lin, to the melodramas-- aka Gong Li films-- like "Raise the Red Lantern" and "Farewell My Concubine"), but I love Roberto Benigni's work as well ("Johnny Stecchino"-- the most hilarious thing I've ever seen, Monty Python aside... I love horror (like the "Evil Dead" trilogy, & the "Phantasm" movies...)... & that's just the beginning (i don't even want to get into my adoration for guys like Pacino & DeNiro). so you see, Celine Dionne-tracked chick flicks & superficial, excuse-to-grab-your-boyriend thrillers are not universally loved by the female gender. i'd chose "Raging Bull" over "never been kissed" in half a heartbeat, & a good Speilberg film always beats the pants of anything that these all-hype-no-substance films of late may have to offer... as for the "Star Wars" thing, well, i wasn't the only girl in line waiting to buy advanced tickets for TPM last Wednesday...
(btw-- it rocked...)

: I'm not saying it's you girls here at the forum. Of what I've seen, you girls have pretty good taste. I'm talking about the one's in my school. All the time, they tell me, "Star Wars sucks! Indiana Jones sucks! E.T. sucks! and so on". Yet, what do they like? The trashiest movies out there today, such as Armageddon, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, Urban Legend, and so on. What's wrong with them? They treat those movies as if they are art forms, when they are merely manipulative, derivative forms of crude entertainment, and they don't see that. They say things like, "Oh! I love Armageddon, it's SO sad!!" Sad, huh? You haven't seen true sadness in movies unless you've seen Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, and E.T. Someone tell me why they love these low-grade pieces of crap, and hate some of the best movies ever made. UHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
