Good question. I think that Indy is a little rough with Marion at
some points in the movie but he is clearly devastated after Marion
is supposedly killed in that truck crash. Indy is parctically suicidal
as he pulls his gun on Belloq in the bar, that I think shows how much
he cares for her.
He is supposed to be a ladies man and a bit of a chauvanist that is part of his character, but not on the level of James Bond though.
