Yes, it was the right thing to do, because Old Indy was a bad concept to begin with. The only wrong thing was having him there in the first place. He didn't even act liek Indy. As if Indiana Jones, aka the coolest person who ever lived (or didn't, depending on how you look at it) would really end up going around from post offices to museums to god knows where telling his stories to people. How lame!
