: : : Ok, as I looked over a worldmap I suddenly realized that many of
: : : the character´s names in the Indy trilogy are based on places.
: : : Indiana is of course too obvious to even mention but
: : : (Marion) Ravenwood isn´t that a city in the US? and
: : : Khatanga (the freighter captain in ROTLA) is a place in northern
: : : Russia and finally Wuhan (Indy´s friend in TOD) is pretty big city in
: : : China. Does anybody know of places called Belloq or Sallah?.
: : : Anyway I just thought it was peculiar.

: : : regards
: : : Krede

: : Hey. I looked up both Belloq and Sallah in the gazetteer and found that
: : there are no cities or regions with either of those names. Actually,
: : there was a SALLA in Finland, but I discounted that one. And I always
: : assumed Katanga was named for the mineral rich region of the Congo. Just
: : my two cents.
: : -graml
: : Geography always was my best subject...

: Ravenwood, according to an interview with Lawrence Kasdan in Starlog magazine, was the name of a street in Hollywood. He was driving around thinking about the script and the character names when he ran across this street sign (not literally).

: See ya,

: The Man with the Hat

:
: "Fortune and Glory, Kid. Fortune and Glory."

Actually down here in Florida down the street from me there is a Chinese restaurant called Wu Han's.
