Let me add to your question. I own two A-2 bomber jackets. One is a Willis & Geiger goatskin. It is much stiffer than the other one, which is a pre-distressted LL Bean jacket. When I get a Wested, I would not want it to be as stiff as the Willis & Geiger jacket, but I would still want it to have some body to it, even if it was softer that the LL Bean jacket. I share your concern.

: Is it really as strong as an A-2 bomber? I thought it was thinner than the A-2 bomber hide? Does Wested just use a thicker superior quality labskin? Sorry, don't mean to be asking so manny question. I know Wested make a good jacket. I'm just trying to decide between the lambskin and hide.

: : Becky,

: : Yes, the jackets are still being made. Peter Botwright has assured us of this.

: : I like the Raiders version (I've bought 2, one for myself, and one for my brother). Having bought and tried on both the cotton and satin linings, I prefer the satin lining. I find that it slips on more comfortably and easily, and it's no warmer or cooler than the cotton lining. Overall, it's a more comfortable fit, as it doesn't cause your shirt to bunch up and lowers overall friction. As for the durability of the lambskin, it shouldn't be a concern. Although it's extremely soft, unbelievably so, it's as tough as the hyde on the Air Force-issued A2 bomber jacket I own. I've pulled on the leather of the adjusting straps a few times, literally as hard as I could, just out of curiosity -- to see if I might have to "baby" the jacket instead of going all out (hikes, fishing trips, plane rides, etc.). The lambskin is simply wonderful. "Trust me."

: : : Hi,

: : : I've been interested in purchasing a Wested Leather Jacket, but I'm having problems deciding between the lambskin and hide versions and the sating and cotton linings.

: : : I was hoping that I could be some feedback from anyone who has purchased and own either versions for some time. I've heard mixed fellings about the different materials. I've heard that the lambskin is baby-soft, but very thin and light. Is the lambskin as rugged as the hide version? Will it stand up to hiking and that sort of thing?

: : : What abou the linings? Which is better, the cotton or the satin. I've looked at the movies and the lambskin in Raiders and T of D appears to be really rugged. But after looking at some lambskin jackets in town, and asking questions, everyone has told me that the lambskin is not as durable as the hide and won't do as well in advernture type activities.

: : : Any feedback from anyone would be great.

: : : Also, is Wested still making the jackets? It seems they are, but has there been a final word, yet for Wested?

: : : Thank you so very much.
