I think of the CHARACTER of Indiana Jones as a creation of George Lucas but I think of the FILMS as a creation of Steven Spielberg. If you see the documentary on the making of "Raiders" they concentrate much more on Steven than on George. The things we love about the Indy films are more the contribution of Spielberg. Even though George is a competent director (except for "Phantom Menace") he could never have created the wonderful Indy trilogy on film the way that Spielberg did. I don't want to belittle his contribution but George only came up with the characters and story. Bringing them to life onscreen is a whole different matter.
