I don't know about fictional characters but what about the real-life Ian Fleming? The creator of James Bond. I read that he had some cool adventures of his own and based James Bond on himself. He would also have been one of Indy's contemporaries.

Also Ernest Hemingway and Indy could have had some cool times together.
