A question about Marion...

I asked this a few weeks ago but nobody answered so I thought I'd try again. In the tent scene, Belloq comes in and gives Marion some food and apologizes for their treatment of her. I've tried and tried to figure out what the food was but no luck. She eats some bread and picks up what looks like a chunk of cabbage or lettuce. Does anyone know what this is? I can't imagine that anyone would want to eat a chunk of cabbage or lettuce by itself but that's what it looks like to me.
This is driving me nuts and I'd really like to know what you guys think she could be eating.
