: : Does anyone know how to distress the Wested Raiders jacket to look older quicker? I know it will fade and wear over time, but I want to get that look now.

: When they distress jackets for movies they sometimes use a very fine grit sandpaper on the seams, which appears to have been done on at least the Last Crusade jackets. However, I recommend a good rolling around on some pavement or against a concrete surface. You can also put it in a dryer (set for cool air only) and put some stones in the dryer with it-let it tumble around a bit. Of course, I also recommend just wearing it naturally, as I have done mine, but while you have to have patience for this, the results will be much better and you will have years of little marks that you can look at and say, "I remember when I did that!"

I tried distressing a leather-billed cap with 600 grit sandpaper (it was cheap to practice on), and what I got was a suede-feeling where the surface of the leather was sanded away. And it is very difficult to get a random look to the distress. I believe I had rather let the jacket naturally distress than to mess-up a Wested trying to distress it too fast.
