: One thing I'd like to know: on what do they base their accusations. Lao Che WAS a crime lord, but the movie never did focus on anything else. Crime lords ARE violent. The Thuggees WERE cultists. How does this portray the Hindu people? Being as Hindu people follow the religion of the Hindu god Shiva, how does a cult following the religion of Kali Ma represent them?

Well, looking back at it from out point of view, you're right, it was very stupid. But let's face it, people had pidgeon-holed other people right up to and including the years of WWII. It seems that it finally reached the high point with the atrocities that occurred during that war, and I'm not speaking totally of the "Final Solution" that Hitler was involved with in Europe. We were doing our part right here in the US by imprisoning all Asian-Americans after the attack on Pearl Harbor simply because they looked to "Japanese". At the time it was common, it was practiced, and it was expected. No, it wasn't right, but we really can't judge these practices of the early part of this century by using our end of the century moralities. We can learn from these mistakes and move on. Regards.
