Chapter 9
“He’s bluffing,” Lauren said defiantly.
Juan chuckled menacingly and pointed the gun at her, “Oh, no, senorita, I am very serious.”
He fired the gun and the bullet went sailing between Lauren and Eric. Eric jumped and Lauren said, “What exactly do you want?”
Juan pointed to the Popocatepetl in the distance and said, “To go there.”
“To a volcano?” Indy questioning, “Why?”
“It is said to believe the spear which Popocatepetl used in battle is buried between Popocatepetl and Iztaccihulatl. The spear is known to be powerful in battles and blessed by the gods.”
“Why do you want it?” Lauren asked.
“That is not for you to know, senorita,” Juan said as he walked off, “I get you two weeks to find it then we’ll start killing you one by one.”

As Juan left, Eric and Michael stared at the man and Eric said, “Is he for real?”
“Yeah,” Mike said, “who would want to kill tourists?”
“I don’t think we have any choice,” Indy said.
“You bet we do,” as Eric walked to his horse and said, “I’m bound for the first place out of Mexico City.”
“That’s the first place they’d guard,” Lauren said and looked at Indy, “Dad?”
Pulling her by the arm towards his horse, Indy said, “First back to the hotel to read up more on this…”
“And then what?” Lauren asked.
“We’ll come to that bridge when we come to it,” Indy said as they left the temple.
