: :Firstly, I don't know where you got the idea that the film's 'going further into magic and old (30's) style villains' makes it more corny. (1) Indy's profession as an archaeologist allows him to interact with the past periods and/or cultures. And these cultures, being ancient as they are, usually involve magic...whether you believe in it or not. THAT's what makes the movie interesting, it's sense of mystery. (2) The movie(s) is set in the 30's. Whaddya expect, photon guns and Desert Storm soldiers?
: .....And Indy Anna's right........if it's Batman and Robin, it's corny(God! I hate that movie!). If it's Indiana Jones, it's heroic creativity....and, oh, magic...!

I don't want photon guns and Desert Storm soldiers. Cultures don't involve magic. Perhaps on a cultural level but that culture doesn't mean that faces should melt, the sky flush like a toilet, a man should have his heart ripped out while he pleads for his life, Indian voodoe
