Chapter 8

The Nazi colonel stood smoking a cigarette near the rear door of the caboose of the train. He stubbed the butt out under his boot as Indy and his escort entered.
"Indiana Jones," the colonel said matter-of-factly."
"Excuse me?" came Indy's reply.
The colonel said," That is your name. Dr. Henry 'Indiana' Jones Jr."
"I'm sorry," Indy said. "You've got me confused with somebody else."
"Archaeologist. Treasure seeker," the Nazi officer went on. "Does the Ark of the Covenant ring any bells? The Holy Grail?"
"I'm sorry," Indy repeated.
"You've cost the Fatherland nearly as many lives as this forsaken war," he said. "And, you take a good photograph." He held up a picture of Indy, probably taken in Brunwald Castle.
"And...?" Indy said, at last unable to deny his identity.
"And, we would like you to join us."

"Right," Indy said," And my name's really Churchill."
"I represent a growing band of former Nazi's who do not approve of of Hitler or his methods."
"Yeah, that would just about be the whole world, mister."
"Think about it Dr. Jones. But, don't take too much time. The fate of the world is in your hands."
"Oh, I'll think about it, Mr. Schreck," Indy said as he turned to leave."
"I shall contact you for an answer."
Indy nodded and walked out. His head hurt from all the new information struggling to fall into place. He came to his compartment, and looked inside.
"Captain Russell was gone!!
