My mother died last December. For twenty years she had had the fear of being in a nursing home. She made me promise I would never put her there, regardless of her condition. In the end, I couldn't take care of her. Her friends convinced me to put her in a nursing home. She had the best of care, but I feel like I failed her. It was not what she wanted.
