: : : The Temple? The Indy? The Ark? The elusive Nostalgia? I know that's an incredibly subjective question, but I would love to hear some opinions, so I can make a better-informed (is that grammatically correct?) decision. If anybody can either respond on the list, or email privately, I would be very appreciative for any information! Thanks!

: : Actually, without seeming to dodge the question, I'm actually answering it....any of the above three would work the same, as the Temple and Ark are the same but just pre-blocked. This can be either changed by you, or have it done by a professional hat cleaner and have them blocked to the shape you really want. The Nostalgia is, of course, open crowned and ready for your shaping. From all appearances, the Temple and Ark are just pre shaped Nostalgia's , so either way you jump, you're actually correct. It's just how much after sale work are you wanting to to? Regards. Michaelson

: Not quite. I've had all three at the same time to compare - the local hat shop was VERY flexible. The Temple and the Ark have a very difinite taper to them that reshaping cannot get rid of. Also, brim width and crown height are less then the Nostalgia. One thing I did like with the Temple, though, was a color it was originally offered in, but which had been discontinued. The one I had for evaluation came in nougat - a lighter brown that had that weathered look to it.

: Go with the Nostalgia.

Point well taken. I don't agree on not being able to remove the taper, as I have done it myself (granted, it ain't easy, but can be done) as well as have had two done professionally that removed an incorrect taper completely and changed the blocking to one I wanted. Now the color is another animal all together. What I like about all three Stetson's is that they come with the dimensionally cut brim. I had to have done that to my fedoras and that's an additional $10 charge by the way. Stetson's pre cut brim is a real plus. My point was that if you have access to these kind of serices, or have the patience to make the corrections you want, go with the one that's the least expensive or on sale. I also totally agree with your conclusion. Go with the Nostalgia if one can be had. All I've read from owners is complete satisfaction. Why fight success? Regards. Michaelson
